Emotional patterns

You do not need the silver lining yet

Sometimes the first honest sentence is that something was disappointing.

LushClover · 02

The consolation arrives quickly

A plan falls apart. Before you have described what you lost, someone says it might be for the best. You start looking for a lesson because disappointment suddenly feels like the wrong response.

LushClover · 03

Name what mattered

You were looking forward to seeing someone, finishing something, or getting a chance you worked for. Being specific lets the disappointment refer to an actual hope rather than becoming a vague failure.

LushClover · 04

Choose the company you need

You can tell a friend, “I do not need a positive angle right now. I would just like to talk about it.” They may appreciate knowing how to be with you.

LushClover · 05

Attend to the immediate day

Eat something, change the plan that needs changing, or take a quiet break. Practical care does not require a conclusion about why the event happened.

LushClover · 06

Meaning can come later—or differ

You may eventually learn something useful. You may simply wish it had gone another way. You can continue with life without turning every disappointment into evidence that everything worked out perfectly.
