Connection

Arriving alone is still arriving

The hardest part of a new group may happen before anyone says hello.

LushClover · 02

You pause outside the door

Through the window, everyone seems to have someone to talk to. You consider going home and trying another week. From outside, it is impossible to know who also came alone.

LushClover · 03

Give yourself a modest purpose

You could stay for the introduction, ask one question, or learn what the group does next week. You do not have to leave with a friend for the visit to have counted.

LushClover · 04

Use what is already there

Ask the organizer where to sit or another participant how the session works. A shared activity gives you something to discuss before you know anything personal about each other.

LushClover · 05

Make comfort part of the decision

Notice access, cost, atmosphere and how newcomers are treated. You are allowed to decide a group does not suit you. Staying through discomfort is not automatically the better choice.

LushClover · 06

A second visit is an option

If the place felt welcoming, you might return at the same time. Familiarity can grow through ordinary repeated contact. It is also fine to try a different room.
