Overthinking

Researching the choice forever

More information is useful only if it can change the decision you are making.

LushClover · 02

Another comparison tab opens

You are choosing a course. Each review introduces a new concern, and every concern leads to another search. You now know more about the options and less about what would be enough.

LushClover · 03

Name the decision in one line

“Which beginner class fits Tuesday evenings and my budget?” is narrower than “What should I do with my creative life?” Let the actual purchase stay the size it is.

LushClover · 04

Choose your essential questions

Cost, schedule and accessibility may be enough to shortlist. Write down what would disqualify an option. Interesting details can remain interesting without becoming new requirements.

LushClover · 05

Set a stopping condition

You might decide after checking the course description and asking one unanswered question. A stopping condition is more useful than waiting to feel completely certain about an unfamiliar experience.

LushClover · 06

Leave room to learn by attending

No review can tell you everything about being there. If the commitment is manageable, the next piece of information may come from trying the class rather than opening another tab.
