Everyday life

Make something nobody needs to see

A creative afternoon can belong to you without becoming content.

LushClover · 02

The blank page has an audience

Before you draw the first line, you imagine whether the result would be worth sharing. The possible reaction has arrived before the activity itself.

LushClover · 03

Choose a private experiment

Sketch the mug, try two paint colors, or write a paragraph you will not post. Pick something inexpensive and manageable. You are making room to try, not auditioning for a new identity.

LushClover · 04

Let the result be uneven

A strange shape or clumsy sentence gives you something to work with. You can keep going, change it, or leave it as evidence of an afternoon spent learning.

LushClover · 05

Notice what interests you

Perhaps you like mixing colors more than painting objects, or describing places more than plots. Follow that detail for a while without turning it immediately into a project plan.

LushClover · 06

Decide about sharing afterward

You may want to show someone, and that is fine. You may want to put it in a drawer. The activity has already happened; an audience is an option, not the thing that makes it real.
