Connection

The invitation with a time on it

“We should meet up” can become something a little easier to answer.

LushClover · 02

A warm idea keeps floating

You exchange another message saying it has been too long. Both of you mean it. Nothing happens because neither message gives the other person a next step.

LushClover · 03

Offer one manageable plan

“Would you like a twenty-minute walk on Thursday after work?” gives your friend a time, an activity and a sense of how much room it needs. Keep the plan suited to the person you are inviting.

LushClover · 04

Make an alternative welcome

Add “If that does not work, another day is fine.” An invitation can be specific without becoming a test of affection. Their calendar contains things you may not know about.

LushClover · 05

Notice whether the effort is shared

One unanswered invitation is incomplete information. A long pattern may tell you the friendship needs a different shape. You can offer a door without standing beside it indefinitely.

LushClover · 06

Leave room for a small meeting

You do not need a whole free weekend to catch up. A brief conversation can be the plan itself, rather than an apology for not arranging something more impressive.
