Relationships

They do it so often, you almost stopped noticing.

An ordinary act of care can deserve an unusually specific thank-you.

LushClover · 02

The cup is already on the counter.

The dog has been walked. The directions are in your phone. Someone remembered the thing you forgot to remember.

For a moment, look at the person behind the finished task.

LushClover · 03

Find the part you appreciate.

Was it the effort? The timing? The fact that they noticed you were stretched thin?

You don’t need a grand statement. Just a detail that is true.

LushClover · 04

Let ordinary kindness count.

The NHS lists thanking someone for what they have done as one way to practice kindness.

You can start with something that happened in your kitchen today.

LushClover · 05

Say what made it matter.

“Thanks for handling pickup. I was worried about getting there, and it helped to know you had it.”

That is a sample, not a script. Find the sentence that sounds like you.

LushClover · 06

Don’t attach the next request.

Try letting the thank-you stand on its own.

No “and while you’re at it.” No joke that takes it back. Give the moment a little space.

LushClover · 07

Notice one thing today.

Look for something you would miss if it hadn’t happened.

Then tell the person who made it happen.

Stay a little longer
