Everyday life

Put the shoes by the door

A small setup change can make an intended action easier to begin.

LushClover · 02

The decision has too many parts

You meant to take a short walk, but first you need socks, shoes, keys and a route. By the time you find everything, the gap before your next task has disappeared.

LushClover · 03

Prepare for your actual beginning

Place what you need somewhere convenient and safe. If walking is not accessible or appealing, choose another small activity and prepare its materials instead.

LushClover · 04

Make the first version modest

A familiar short route may fit better than an ambitious plan. Decide what you are willing to do on an ordinary day, not only on the day you feel unusually motivated.

LushClover · 05

Notice the obstacle that remains

Perhaps timing, pain, weather or caring responsibilities matter more than the shoes. A setup change cannot remove every barrier. Use what you learn to change the plan rather than blame yourself.

LushClover · 06

Let preparation be useful, not decorative

The point is not a perfectly arranged doorway. It is one fewer decision between you and something you want to do. Keep the arrangement only if it serves that purpose.

Stay a little longer
